Rockcast Friday.08.28.09a; Sparks, Brendan Benson, Mew, Wolfmother, Parliament, Rory Gallagher, Pearl Jam

So another summer is almost finished. All
the things I do in the fall are in full swing,
it was a real adventure again as I experienced
the hottest and coldest summers in history, all
in the same season!

As a kid I was a football player. Played High School.
Our arch rivals were from a small town 2 miles
from our small town. It has been such a heated rivalry
that even though it was only 2 miles I knew not one
person from there. Many of my team was the same.
I bring this up because tonight they meet for the 100
time. Every year for 100 years peoples sons have been
going at it. That is totally cool in my book.
All players from past teams were invited to help celebrate.
So Go Panthers! Kick the livin' K-rap out of em!
Lets Rock.

Rockcast Wednesday.08.26.09a; Jet, English Teeth, Cory Chisel, Cheap Trick, Phenomenal Handclap Band, Ace Frehley, Steve Vai

Came home last night and tuned in the Cubs
game to see they were getting their collective
brains beat out again. As is the sitting tradition
since the death of announcer Harry Carey, a
guest conductor leads the always rowdy crowd
in a rendition of Take Me Out To The Ballgame.
harry started the tradition during the 7Th inning
stretch. Over the years I have seen some horrible
performances. My all time "Low Lights" include
the rambling mumblings of Ozzie Osbourne, the
completely out of tune and wrong words of Coach
Mike Ditka of the Chicago Bears and the completely
snobbish ignoring to sing appearance by Peter Cetera.
So I was totally surprised to see Eddy Vedder of the
Chicago band Pearl Jam at the mic. Eddy delivered
the BEST rendition I have ever seen done at a Cubs
game. It was that good. Oh and Pearl Jam does
have a new album in stores in a couple of weeks.
I hear it is excellent.

Rockcast Tuesday.08.25.09a; Grand Funk, Sparks, Jet Black Stare, Righteous Hillbillies, Manic Street Preachers, Rick Derringer, Rick Springfield,...

Heavy Thunderstorms in my hometown knocked
out the electricity for most of the afternoon which
kept me from posting yesterday, the set you hear
today. When I worked terrestrial FM radio the tower
was located on the coast of Texas on the Gulf of Mexico.
On occasion the weather would knock me off the air.
When I started Rockcast I thought at least I would not
have that problem any more but I was wrong. It is
just a fact of life on the Gulf coast. So before you go and
suggest a battery back up let my say I already have it
covered. The prob is no internet connection. So rather
than pull what hair I have left out over it I just wait it out.
Lets get to it.
