Rockcast Friday.02.12.10a; Butch Walker, Lacuna Coil, Cheap Trick, Farmer Dave Scher, Dave Edmunds, Love Sculpture, Jimi Hendrix
So I'm working in the studio when the phone rang.
On the other end is a woman who identifies herself
as a representative of the local newspaper. Calling me
by my first name she ask if I have been receiving my
daily paper. I tell her yes. Shen then calls me by my
first name again and states she sees I have not paid
my bill yet and when can she expect payment. I had
already paid the bill so I asked her since when did the
paper start harrassing the patrons about paying their
bill. She said it wasn't harrassment it was a courtesy
call. I then asked her how this was a courtesy to me.
Her reply was a question. "Sir , when can we expect
payment?" I laughed out loud and told her I was
going to double check to make sure it was payed. I
then thanked her for bringing the matter to my attention.
As I was hanging up I could hear her rattling on about
whatever. It's bad enough the paper is shrinking down
to nothing more than adds for department stores and
furniture. Now this horse drop. Being the only paper
in the fourth largest city in America I guess they figure
they got it dicked. Sell adds then get people to pay
you to see said adds, brilliant. That is not why I have
taken the paper for 3 decades. I can see the major
metropolitan newspaper going the way of the wagon
makers at the turn of the 20th Century. All that will
be left are the little private rags that give fanatics a
platform to push their political ideal upon you. The
ones that always end up as a pile of paper pulp at
the front of my drive way. I never subscribed but for
some reason they keep throwing a copy there every
week. Now a new one has appeared so there is now
2. What a waste of paper. Oh and I checked the bill
has been paid for 2 months. They had cashed the check
a full 7 days before. Bozo is definately driving that clown
car.

Dear Big AL
since I know you're on a constant search for talent check this out:

Imelda May. Or may not. I absolutely think she will. Okay I know, Alannah Myles... Okay, lookalike and all, but Imelda really rocks. Big time.
Things go slower at reorganizing the company, so I found time to listen closer to some of the latest Rockcast. Man, Ministry - Jesus Built My Hotrod, that's so Motorboys - only better.
And there was Death Cab for Cutie - Little Bribes. That's just so so cool.
The weirdest was novelty song Bingo Gazingo & My Robot Friend. The lick from Livin' Here Too from my all time hero JJ changed into that. Hey JJ turned seventy, but the way I think of him he really likes stuff like that. He always used a lot of technology, only nobody noticed it. Okie on that one, good stuff. Can't wait 'till William Shatner takes on it. I Can't Get Behind That.
With your extended mix of Goose - Black Gloves I got an A from Vince. For staying young, whatever that means. I just like the mix. Also the Laughing Hyena Singers, that was great fun. My wife goes turn it off every time it comes up, so it's got to be good.
And you played Ting Tings - Fruit Machine. And Little Libertine. What a mix. Got me rocking for quite some time. Like Forever Man, I completely forgot about that one. But Bob went crazy about it. Phil Collins on drums put him in some let's say suspicious mood.
Hey, want to have a smile, it's on the house. We had Karaoke night again. I had to be the shahoo "girl" for Vince trying to do Pon Da Replay. He really sucked. And I had to go "Come Mr. DJ won't you turn the music up" ten thousand times.
So all the gals (only Bob) pon the dancefloor wantin some more what (I'd chose Rockcast)
Hey mista, please mista DJ, won't ya turn da music up
Dino
Imelda May! Cool Dino, bornin Dublin, 1974. Think Billy Holiday Meets Robert Gordon. Jools Holland loves her so much he took her on the road with him. Also check out the soundtrack to O Jeruselum. Imelda is featured with the band The Boogie Woogie Braves. Like Kitty Daisy and Lewis this band lays down the groove! I am definately going to put some on. Thanks for the suggestion. Keep rocking my friend!
Pon da replay? ooo la la Dino!
