Rockcast Thursday.02.04.10a; Bruce Kulick & Steve Lukather, Four Star Mary, Willie Alexander & The Boom Boom Band, Michelle Shocked, Matthew Sweet, Butthole Surfers, Big Star, Nerf Herders.

So let's review. A few months back there was cash for
clunkers program. Many Americans traded in their monster
SUV's for a certain Japanese import that has been in the news.
Critics claim the clunker program was a failure because it
was suppose to put cash back in the coffers of the Big 3 auto
makers in Detroit Mi. not in the pockets of foreign automakers.
Now many of these folks have to hassle with going to a dealer-
ship to have the problem fixed. Believe me it is a total hassle to
have to deal with car dealerships on any level. A friend [at the time
of the program] told me it would come back to bite us on the ass.
So is it poetic justice or just cruel irony that this would happen to
your new imported car after you snubbed the big 3's catalog of
automobiles? Nope just another pain in the arse bump in the road
of life. I see the CEO of said automaker on the tube saying his
company would work 24 - 7 to fix the problem. He said they
would not stop until it was fixed. Hmmm, not stop, that's the
problem from the get go. Poor choice of words on his part.

In same interview the C.E.O. said Toyota would move forward and not stop until the trouble was fixed. I also found it to be an odd choice of words.

I notice that the same Kentucky legislators that castigated Detroit for their poor quality are now falling all over themselves to say that this is just a small setback for Toyota.

It seems that their voters working in the Toyota factory haven't had any work for a week. Tell that to the laid off workers in Detroit.

Tell that to the Camry V6 owners who could get restitution for their sludged-up engines. The Tundra pickup owners whose spare tires were falling out from under the rusted pickup beds. The Prius owners whose accelerators AND brakes are acting peculiar.

Toyota wanted to be the new GM. Congratulations, they are.

Thanks for the post. Looks like a good one.
